Kingfield photographer Denise Lilly captured Kendrick Charles and his horse-drawn sleigh in front of the Stanley Museum during the January Kingfield First Friday Artwalk. Kendrick will join the February Kingfield Artwalk this Friday, February 3 to transport Artwalkers from venue to venue in classic style.
KINGFIELD, Maine – Not only does Kingfield now have snow, we have February First Friday Artwalk coming this Friday, and there will be plenty for everyone to see and hear. There will be Art! Horses! Sleighs! Drinks & Light Refreshments! And now, Jazz Music! Starting this month, there will be fine live music at different venues, offered during Artwalk. Called the Artwalk Music Project, and sponsored by the Kingfield POPs, the music has been made possible thanks to funding from the Maine Expansion Arts Fund of the Maine Community Foundation. This month the Foothills Jazz Quartet will kick-off the Artwalk Music Project at the Stanley Museum. Featuring Maine-based musicians, performances will continue on March 2, again on April 6, concluding with three different groups performing in outdoor settings during the special Pops Artwalk on Friday June 29. As always, Artwalks are open to the public, free of charge. Please join the tour of the galleries, museums, artist’s studios, and now, live musical performances, this Friday in the center village of Kingfield. Doors will be open from 5PM to 8 PM.
Mixed media artists Kate Cheney Chappell and Dona Seegers will join nature photographer John Orcutt in a new exhibit opening at the Schoolhouse Gallery. Woodworker Peter Dean Walen and stone artist Jim Albert from “Zen Stoneworks” of New Vineyard will exhibit at Grand Central Station, once again joining Artwalk as a new venue. New Sharon resident and Upcountry Artists board member Mary Beth Morrison will continue her display of paintings at CSM Real Estate Artworks. New Vineyard artist Joyce Dubay will be exhibiting her oil paintings, including dog portraits, at the Farm Cottage Gallery at the Mountain Village Farm B&B. A selection of work from 27 Maine artists and craftsmen can be seen at the Western Maine Artist Collective at the Reinholt Gallery, and paintings by Ulrike Stadler are on display in the rustic barn galleries at the Stadler Gallery. Saskia Reinholt’s paintings can be seen at The Herbert Hotel and Scentsations features work from local Maine artists. The Stanley Museum is mounting a special exhibit of local paintings by Dorothy Stanley Emmons as well as some jazz-era photographs of the artist to complement the live jazz music performance. Be sure to stop in and see the fascinating display of ski history found in The Ski Museum of Maine.
Kendrick Charles and his horse-drawn sleigh will be out all night, travelling the circle of venues to pick-up and drop-off Artwalkers. Come join us this Friday. Look for the red flags flying by each participating venue – it will be a night you won’t want to miss!
